Internet Blackout Day, SOPA, PIPA, and trying to make sense of it all…

Censored

As many of you may have noticed, January 18th was Internet Blackout Day in an unbelievably successful attempt for many of the web’s heaviest hitters to show their strong disapproval of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA). As companies like Google, Wikipedia, and WordPress “blacked out” their content and urged users to endorse their opposition to the bill, SOPA and PIPA’s sponsors started to run for the hills, but the lawmakers haven’t backed down – even as the amount of endorsements against the bills allegedly shut down congress’ switchboards and melted their servers.

Some-Delicious-Design-for-the-Holidays

Recently, LDG Receptionist Donna Harrison revealed her creative side with these delicious mice infested Christmas trees ;)

Maybe you’ve seen these before but I was pleasantly surprised by the creativity and simplicity of this project and had to share it. The mice’s ears are almond slices and their bodies are chocolate covered cherries – the rest is pretty simple. Donna explained that these are fun projects to do with kids of all ages (and adults too). We’d love to hear about creative projects that get your family engaged in design over the holidays.

Posted in Employees | Information Technology | Professional Development by (Graphic Design) on November 21, 2011

Don is a busy guy, which sort of comes with the territory in Larson Design Group’s (LDG) Information Technology (IT) Department. I recently caught up with Donald for an interview. I thought this would be a good way to provide insight into LDG’s internship program and also to highlight some of the support roles & departments here at LDG. Here’s what Donald had to say:

Caught-in-a-Perfect-Storm

During the CNG Focus Group Education Day held at LDG this spring Stephe Yborra, from NGVAmerica and the Clean Vehicle Education Foundation, an expert and advocate for Compressed Natural Gas and Natural Gas Vehicles kept repeating something during his presentation that has resonated in my mind during some recent events here at LDG: Stephe kept stressing that a “perfect storm” was brewing in PA for CNG considering the abundant natural gas supplies (e.g., the Marcellus Shale play), the high, rising, and unstable price of foreign oil, and the growing availability of factory-built vehicles from major truck, bus and shuttle OEMs.

Recently, I had the opportunity to join members of the CNG Focus Group for a Tour of CATA’s (Centre Area Transportation Authority) facility in State College. I was able to get quite a few nice photos from this event and thought I would use this blog post as an opportunity to share the experience.
