What is your role at Larson Design Group?: I am a registered Professional Engineer, P.E. and Professional Geologist, P.G. at LDG and provide technical guidance for all aspects of Subdivision & Land Development Planning site designs, including subsurface investigations, groundwater analysis and remediation, and environmental studies. I'm also responsible for client and business development, project and employee supervision, scheduling, and budget control in the Lititz Branch Office.
What is your background?: I graduated with a B.S. in Geology from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 1984 and also attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA; Pennsylvania State University Main Campus at University Park, PA & PSU – Branch Campuses in Hazleton, Mont-Alto & Middletown, PA; and Austin Texas Community College, where I studied Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Resource Management, Structural & Civil Engineering, and Surveying. I was owner of Murphy Engineers & Consultants, Inc. a multi-disciplined consulting engineering firm located in Millersville, PA specializing in subdivision & land development design planning services and geology and a past co-owner of Saxinger, Black & Murphy, Inc. in Lancaster, PA. I have also been employed w/other top 100 and top 500 consulting engineering firms over my 26 year career in PA, TX, MD, and MA including the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture – Soil Conservation Service & the Texas Water Commission. I also worked on the multi-international design team responsible for the Fort Point Channel Crossing w/Reinforced Concrete Immersed Tube Tunnels as part of the “Big Dig” in Boston, MA.
What do you enjoy in your free time?: I reside in southern Lancaster County in the River Hills of Conestoga Township near Pequea, PA. I enjoy hiking, biking, camping, boating, crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay, fishing (especially deep sea), cooking, reading exploration and travel novels, and spending time with family and friends, especially at the homestead of 50+ years in Bloomsburg, PA on the Susquehanna River.
